  Scleral Cover Shells

A scleral cover shell is fit over a blind shrunken eye.  A scleral shell is fit much the same as an artificial eye although it is much thinner.  It is usually well tolerated and comfortable.  Due to the presence of the globe behind the shell, it usually has excellent motility.  A well fit scleral cover shell can make a blinded eye unnoticeable.

If you have a blinded discolored eye, ask your eye doctor if you would be a good candidate for a scleral cover shell.

    - The first time I received my prosthetic eye, I was cautious, nervous, and very self conscious because I didn't know what to expect. Mr. Imm and his staff made me feel comfortable about the whole transition. Mr. Imm made the eye seem very real. The prosthetic eye that I received was very detailed. No one could tell, unless I informed them, that my eye was prosthetic. This made me feel very comfortable and confident. The detail of this eye from the gray tone and the blue outline match my real eye. I would highly recommend Mr. Imm to any individual whom required a prosthetic eye.       -- S.
